Loewen, University of Vermont emeritus professor, and author of the bestselling book, “Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong,” discusses the overreliance on history textbooks, many of which present a warped or distorted view of the Civil War and other critical episodes in American history. Loewen is also the author of a number of other books, including most recently, “The Confederate and Neo-Confederate Reader: The ‘Great Truth’ About the ‘Lost Cause.’”
