Back on top: new data show wealthy recovering more than others

This chart visualizes the share of total income that goes to the constituent elements of the top 10 percent of families. In 2010, that top 10 percent as a whole received 47.9 percent of total income. The chart enables you to look at six pieces of the top 10 percent — including the top one-tenth of 1 percent and top one-hundredth of 1 percent — in the period from 1917 to 2010. 

 

 This visualization charts average income for bands up to 0.1 percent for the period from 1917 to 2010.
