Aug. 2, 2011 — The Graduate Center of The City University of New York distinguished professor of history Judith Stein discusses her book, “Pivotal Decade: How the United States Traded Factories for Finance in the Seventies.” Stein traces how previously reigning economic ideas and practices — ones that favored manufacturing, low unemployment, and high wages — were gradually dismantled in the face of challenging political and economic circumstances during the 1970s.
