Responses to “Congress ties Postal Service into knots”

Nov. 1, 2012 — “Congress ties Postal Service into knots” [is] good analysis as far as it goes. Other questions to be answered: Do we still need a postal service when the vast majority of mail is advertising? Should the USPS monopoly of the mailbox be removed? Is “universal delivery” necessary? Could residential routes be delivered one or two days a week instead of six? In many communities, why can’t postal operations be contracted with a local business to sort mail into boxes for area patrons?

Nov. 1, 2012 — Kevin Brown’s piece on the Postal Service that was published today is one of the better, more thorough pieces of work on the subject.

I write for www.SavethePostOffice.com and one of the things we have tried to illuminate is the absolutely horrendous reporting that has been done on Postal Service issues.

If I have any criticism of the article, it is that Mr. Brown appears to let the senior leadership of the Postal Service off the hook. Their maneuvering has greatly narrowed the discussion and appears to have been at least partially responsible for letting Congress take the path it has.

Even with that observation, I think you have done a thorough job in presenting the fallout from the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA).
